The Entertainment Reality

Society these days are easily influenced by lifestyles that are portrayed through various forms of media. This project started by looking at objects that are used as a sense of entertainment, and how a user experiences the entertainment spaces, and eventually led to depicting a setting that we perceive as a perfect reality.
The Entertainment Reality is where Stars (celebrities or social media influencers) reside for fame and luxury in exchange for their privacy. The Set is equipped with cameras everywhere which will broadcast their private lives to the public. Visitors are also able to watch their lives up close and personal by walking about or sitting at a cafe in the Haven Building. This project illustrates the attachment of reality living towards the society these days.
The theme of this project goes about depicting a setting that we perceive as a “perfect reality”, where we stage the everyday life of people.This project is influenced by the narrative of The Truman Show, where an ideal set of a suburban lifestyle is played out for the one and only, Truman Burbank. As quoted from a scene from the movie, “Nothing you see on the show is fake, it is merely controlled.”
In Truman’s case, he doesn’t know there are cameras watching him - so what he does in daily life is natuarl. But how do we act if we do know cameras are watching our every move? Are we showing what is real? Or just a means of portraying a perfectly scripted reality?
